Homepage V3.png

Observation/Problem:

  • Callouts for the four main services were indistinct, icons duplicated to represent different categories, and did not encourage users to click through to the services pages.

  • Despite news content being updated frequently, the news callout was small and lacked any distinct characteristics of a news item, such as date and teaser text

  • Large carousel as hero image lacks functionality and can be detrimental to users with accessibility needs

  • Homepage lacks callouts to other major areas of the site, such as Publications and Directory pages

Solution

  • Create unique callout area for the four services offered by the department

  • Include callouts for Publications and Directory

  • Redesign News and Updates area of the homepage to include more visuals, dates, and titles

Directory

  • Directory content was on multiple pages, making it difficult for the user to navigate through the complete list

  • Faculty members and students within the directory were listed under multiple categories, leading to a duplicate of content

Solution

  • Create single page directory with filter for multiple categories to improve navigation
